Definitely not their best. As an AFI fanboy, we'll see how it settles in after a few listens.

Loved every second of this album. But I've long since given up on trying to wrap my head around people's opinions when it comes to music. None of it makes any sense. Or, I should say, there's no general consensus even remotely comparable to what we see with movies or video games or other forms of art. Looking at comments on youtube, facebook, etc. regarding this album and there's basically someone that dislikes this entire album except for one song... for every single song on the album. There's someone that thinks it's a great callback to old styles. There's someone that thinks it sounds nothing like what they've done in the past. Any combination of opinions you could think of... it's out there.

I'm not complaining though. It's just really fucking weird to me how personal music seems compared to other forms of art. I guess music is easier to pick apart than movies. You can easily call out which songs you don't like and since there are usually over a dozen songs, it sort of gives people a metric to attach to their opinion. Most people don't critique moves by picking apart each scene.

ANYWAYS. Feed From The Floor is fantastic. Already one of my favorite AFI songs. I've been listening to this album for the past month and pretty much every single song has come into my head at some point. Washing the dishes singing "Weerrree weee onlyyyy plaaaying like DUMB KIDS!" or cooking dinner like "Soooo poooorly I've, hidden knives, you will find them!". I will say that a lot of the songs didn't immediately jump out at me like many of them did on past albums, but they sank their teeth pretty deep into me after a few listens and they haven't let go.

Highlights for me are Feed From the Floor, Pink Eyes, Still a Stranger, Dumb Kids, and The Wind That Carries Me Away.

This was my biggest criticism. It was an absolute slog to get through.

Strongly disagree with this review. Easily their best post-STS album. Just really good, subtle, broofing pop.

The Facebook previews of this album really turned me off. I'm all for modern AFI and whatever sound they want to make... but this is just no fun at all.

I have Crash Love at a 3 and Burials at a 4, so I'm interested to see how this stacks up.

Hidden Knives is on now and it's pretty great. So far most tracks have been slightly catchy but mostly uninteresting on first listen.

Get Hurt is good too. All the songs are above average but I can't shake how bored Davey sounds most of the time.

I don't think it's as much "Bored" as is "Refined" maybe? Like he is getting comfortable in his sound and age
