Eh idk Chuck, I'm re-listening now and this is a bit less irritating than I remember so I'll bump my rating to a 2.5. Album sounds very pretty but feels so aimless and hollow.
A bit of a problem arises when the best song on your album is an inferior retread of a highlight from its predecessor; "8 Circle" is pretty decent but it's basically "Beth/Rest 2: Electric Boogaloo" without the endearingly cheesy '80s ballad aesthetic that made B/R work so well.

i don't know i think at first i was just excited for new bon iver, then i sort of realized how pretentious this sounded, then i realized that the whole thing just annoyed me and while pretentious music isn't necessarily bad i don't think the direction he went here *sounds* good
thats just me though obviously a lot of people dig it
