Jammed this last night on a rainy night drive into Boston with me mum
'Tis bliss
I just wish tracks 5 and 6 were better
Track 6 I can understand, but track 5 is a major highlight for me :/

I listened to this whole album last Saturday actually driving out of Boston with the gf. We both commented how track 5 sounded like a smoky detective story kind of song. Definitely in my top 3 on here.

'Old Doof has a bizarrely wholesome reviewing style damn'
it's a strange review - dropping in references to Limp Bizkit, Jane's Addiction....and Whigfield

It's one of those reviews that reads like it was drafted more than once, which is something I appreciate muchly
And also the Limp Bizkit reference yes ;]

A lot of my reviews were trying to get to the crux of the 'almost impossible to adequately describe' factors people like with music - personal associations, images music conjures, a transportive quality, nostalgia over time, feeling that you yourself are reflected in the music, etc - the magic you could say.
This and my Mercury Rev review were the two that went most that angle - I'm sure a lot of people would say a waste of time as yeah, you can't really adequately describe those things, but I'm aware of them at least and I'm aware a lot of people who REALLY like music are aware of them too. That's a start.
Well, that's sort of the idea of those two reviews ;D

I miss Doof reviews :-(

I'd start repeating myself a lot if I started writing 6 para reviews again - I sort of told myself if I started repeating concepts/angles for reviews I'd cut back.
I still plan to review more due to the 'Hall of Fame' list I have set up on RYM, but they'll probably be 3 para ones max for the most part.

Also my AOTY account has collected all my reviews (some edited down), new shorter reviews and a lot of soundoff type entries - basically it's my listening log, that site just lends itself to that format more than here or RYM
In a strange way it's the account I'm most invested in at this point.
