I feel Stereolab's discog is very adequately rated by those who've heard (other than perhaps Peng and Cobra) - do you mean undercelebrated or underexposed?

This one a bit more cerebral and jazzy than Emperor Tomato, but these two are both amazing and really hold up. This band seems due for a renaissance of sorts.

Peng, Cobra and Sound dust especially should have a higher average imo.
Yeah undercelebrated too, people seem to just mention dogs and loops or emperor when discussing these guys.

Sound Dust is wonderful and more consistent than Emperor imo, but this is perfect
Cobra is my 2nd fave, so I'd agree it's perhaps underrated in relation to the rest of their discog
Incredible band. All of their stuff has merit / is at least worth checking out

I think most of the currently active Stereolab fan users would rank Sound Dust and Cobra very highly, it probably is an artefact from the past that it has a low average here.

Cobra and Sound-Dust are both great. Cobra a little more experimental, Sound a bit more tuneful. Both killer.

Have to check Cobra & Sound-Dust in depth, was not impressed after a superficial listen, but seeing the above comments makes me want to revisit. I’m more for Dots being their last great record, with a fantastic run from Bursts to Emperor.
