Are you saying that Emperor isn't even a contender? Damn
I need to give this another go, Transient needs bumping to a 3.5 and I'm pretty sure this one's better, so I'm hopeful

ETK is like B plus tier Stereolab with a few huge highlights, and yh this/Transient/Cobra/Sound Dust are their top shelf without question.
This and Transient are such impeccable mappings of their respective palettes that idk if it makes sense to call either better

100% agree with that Johnny.
While Emperor is super good too (just like Margerine, Mars and Peng; not so much Chemical and Not Music), it's nowhere near their best.
It would be nice if you could gush over how good they are with us here Demon, perhaps one day!

Definitely, they all have their moments, none below 3.5 for me.

This wins hands down for me but ETK is a pretty close second then followed by Mars, Peng!, Transient then the rest in a yet to be determined order.

Yeah it’s taken me a while to become accustomed to these 60s-pop leaning vibes, now I’m learning to embrace them it goes down a lot easier
I always knew this was really good, just wasn’t sure I was completely in-tune with all that it offers, if that makes sense

Glad to be here. Club rules state I must slowly expand my Stereolab repertoire over the coming months!

I don't really have seasonal associations with Stereolab at all, I guess to me they are... timeless...
And that's the truth Demon, they're another of those taking-your-time-with-them kind of bands. Where your time investments pay off tenfold.

Stereolab question for Demon:
Have you heard the long version of Blue Milk yet? From Cobra? It's SO GOOD and PERFECT and everything I need. If you haven't heard Cobra yet check that one next.

I haven't even heard Blue Milk's original version yet
Transient Mars Ketchup Dots (just wanted to type this without commas for my own visual pleasure)
...that's all I've checked so far.

Ah yeah, their lounge side has only recently clicked for you of course. Makes sense you've checked the rockier albums then. Cobra is superb but it'll come to you in due time I'm sure. And I think all newer versions of the album feature the long Blue Milk so that's good.
