Nvm, Queensryche takes that honor

Don't think anyone else has managed a 4.5 AND a 1.3

Yeah, the drop in quality from Mindcrime to Dedicated to Chaos is fucking insane

I honestly feel like this album doesn't get enough love. As someone who doesn't really like A7X that much I thought this album was fantastic.

Yeah it's really good, same thing with the new Trivium, but obviously people who aren't already into the bands won't be as generous with their ratings.

Just me that actually really enjoys Shadows' vocals on this album?

I definitely prefer his vocals on other albums they have done, however i don't mind his vocals on the t/t on this for some reason.

Tbh the t/t almost sounds completely different from the rest of the album, it sounds like a more tradition A7X mix when comparing it to the rest of the album, t/t would fit more on Nightmare rather than the album it was named after, imho..

Instrumentally this has more than one "hey this could fit into WtF" moments

Paradigm could fit comfortably with WtF with more growling, sure. All the prog metal elements are still dope, though.

Please tell me everyone else hears some black metal influence in Fermi? Definitely the biggest departure for them on here

Also, Higher might be the best song the band has made. Floored me when I saw it live.

Roman Sky is probably my favourite on this album. So gorgeously melancholic yet uplifting at the same time. A perfect oximoron in terms of tone.

A7X are hopefully gonna reenter the scene in 2020 with a widely-respected album that showcases their potential on an even more accomplished scale than with this quality effort.

I truly think the best is yet to come and I think we have Brooks to thank for that. It feels like he lit a fire under their asses again.

Agreed, this is a great base to build upon. I wonder what they will do. In a sense a standard A7X sound doesn't really exist yet

Tbh, even StST and WtF have pretty different sounds. Then City of Evil comes along and is a complete departure from previous sounds (and an underrated album in terms of songwriting and ambition imo). I think Nightmare and the self-titled release were going to be the defining sound of the band ending the decade, but hopefully this particular swing in style will be where they really find their feet. (I didn't listen to the shit-show that was Hail to the King) - only heard the track on CoD zombies so can't comment on it.

Hopefully they finally cross the threshold and create a full-on tech-prog record
