The Cult is Alive and Circle the Wagons are the only albums I like from their crust era stuff. I'm actually pretty curious to see how I like this too after so long.

Ok you guys were right. This was at least a 3.5. Almost gave it a 3, but the solos pushed it to a 3.5.

I agree with your review to some extent but I think you are comparing this album with the bands legacy in Black Metal which they had not experienced yet. At the time, no one knew what the band would go on to acheive, and I think this album is an awesome Death Metal album for the time, you could easily slot this in between Death's Scream bloody Gore and Leprosy minus the vocals. I think this is the rightful place any listener should start if they want to experience the Darkthrone treatment, and not work themselves backwards and then forwards form Transilvannian Hunger.

doesn't really sound like a Death album at all, much more like Dismember/Entombed/Grave
