Does their sound change much? i.e. anything more progressive, or with a harsher sounding vocalist? (half-joking on the 2nd one).

I wasn’t gonna say ‘better riffs’ but yeah that as well, the emphasis is mostly on the melodies here as far as I can tell. There was a couple of moments where it did threaten to pique my interest tbf.

Check Hidden Hands right now in all seriousness, it rules super hard and has riffs for 10 albums

Can also vouch for Deliver Us and Hidden Hands... as being among their best. I always found this one a bit underwhelming despite the love it gets from many people.

Their first album is easily their best and is an essential metalcore album.

That really wasn’t what I said but okay man, haha.

At least not by itself, I like how Nocturnal retains the heaviness other melo-death often lacks. The riffs are also crazy infectious. The catchiness here is somewhat different (well, attempted catchiness so far 😄).

a dude I was in high school with told me he almost died at a Himsa concert and it became the only metalcore band he never shat on. Still havent listened to that album because I forgot all about this band up until now
