Helped create some landmark bm records. I'm just talking metal in general. If we're just talking subgenres then yea out of place.

And yea idk if Godflesh would just be considered industrial or not.

Dont get me wrong, these guys rule. It's just too early for me to put them in that discussion. Like I said, there are more than enough bands whose quality of work just trumps ulcerate's that they would be slightly out of place for me in that consideration

I think we can all agree that regardless of the band's status in metal they fucking kick ass

Abrogation is outright murderous. That song itself is 10/5. Exceeds all expectations by a mile.

It's good to hear that one of the biggest improvements is the (re)introduction of emotion in their music, since that was one of their barriers the last two albums.

I'm too biased to say if these guys are amongst the best, since I'm an unapologetic fanboy.

Can't wait to get my hands on this album.

Gyro is right that the album name is stupid but I (perhaps wrongly) assumed it was some type of homage to altars of madness.

I don't know about Destroyers, certain parts are pretty emotional.

"I don't know about Destroyers, certain parts are pretty emotional."

Yeah, I do agree, especially the endings to Burning Skies, Cold Becoming, and that bit in The Hollow Idols, and of course t/t. But I noticed with Extinguished Light that the songwriting seems to have been composed around the emotion as opposed to inserting it. I love everything by these guys, so it's more of an insight than a strict criticism. :D

Vermis on the whole feels a bit emotionless to me despite Await Recission being my main jam for the last three years, and I do think the more emotional aspects of EiF overshadow those of Destroyers. From what I can tell, the new album is/will be everything in one.

Only dm album this year that has a chance of trumping this in my book is the new Départe record. Yea EiF tops anything Gorguts have released imo. I feel I'll be saying the same about this album by next year.

I read right past that.

Actually excited for this. Tried listening to their older stuff again recently and it still doesn't really click for me, but the songs I've heard off this I actually got into more than anything else I've heard from them, I think.
