I have to assume the crescendo on Extinguished Light at about 4 minutes in with the snare play may sound jarring on some listening devices. I don't see many instances where the production would be an issue.

It clicked with me what he was going for with the drum sound on this album; if you listen to something like the latest Messa record, the snare tones are virtually identical. It’s that 70s low tuned, roomy sounding snare you’ve probably heard on 100s of well known records but it’s so surprising to hear on this type of frantic record, where the low end frequencies are fighting each other for room. It just does work at all in my view, which is a shame because there are some really great tracks on this. The kickdrum is lost in the mix, too, so it’s just a baffling album from a drumming point of view.
