Hey, at least you're getting to see them. They never come anywhere close to where I live.

Eh this is a nice listen but its a little boring sometimes and doesn't have a lot of replay value for me.

I might have to knock this down, but I Need A Drink is still great. Also, I'm still very much charmed by Kinsella, even with the songs I'm not quite on board with.

It's the vocals mainly that irk me here. They're much less emotional than on the debut imo and the harmonizations at the third become very predictable.

I don't disagree, I think it has to do with them being so high in the mix. As much as I love Kinsella's voice, a lot this really is way too straightforward and predictable. A bit of a vague comparison, but it reminds me of the change between Empire! Empire!'s debut and sophomore albums: the song ideas work sometimes, but it all sounds too clean, too tightly-structured, and too simple, it's boring.

I hear you, but Mike isn't going to sound the same as he did in '99. Things are going to be a bit more evolved, or different nonetheless. I mean, he was in his early 20's on the debut, I believe. Now, being in his late 30's, his vocals being of a different style or mood is to be expected. I'm not getting on you for your opinion or anything like that, cause I hear where you're coming from. Vocals play a big part in American Football, but for me, it's always been about the layering of the guitars and the way the music meshes together to make some beautiful shit.

Keep playing it, man. Regardless of anyone's accusations about it being a cash grab and what not, I still think this record is great. I mean, everything about the music is still there. The vocals are different, but what should one expect after 17 years?

Well, more times than not when a band drops a new record, they play a fair amount of songs from it, considering that they are supporting it's release. But, I hear you.
