When American Idiot came out in 2004, Green Day were on top of the world.

The proper word should be "was"

Just a nitpick, barely started reading the review so if there's more you're gonna have to wait a few hours lol

Only heard samples, but it does kind of sound like the old stuff mixed with the guitar riffs of CDs like American Idiot. No opuses though. Not a classic like Nimrod or American Idiot, but it sounds much better than the recent trio of albums and very good if you like the classic Green Day sound as much as I do.

both are correct

If you take Green Day as a whole, a band, you can say "was"

But you can also take it as a group, consisting on more than one person, so "were" is correct too

Jeez, why so many 3.5 and 4 ratings. Most of these songs would fit on the trilogy. Bang Bang, Title track, Bouncing Off The Wall and Forever Now are the only decent songs here. The term "false advertisement" would depict this album well, considering that the band said that this would be based more off of their early roots. It's just as poppy as their last 4 records...and Youngblood? Good God, the atrocity.

This is definitely better than any of the trio albums but that's not saying much. Honestly it's just kind of boring.

Most of the songs would fit perfectly on the trilogy. I would say that it's a little more focused, but not better.

I disagree I think this is definitely a step up. There's nothing on here as cringeworthy as the songs on Dos.

God just thinking about that album makes me want to barf.

Yeah, Youngblood is awful and Still Breathing/Ordinary World are pretty bleh imo. Solid af album for me though, which is all I need from these guys at this stage in their careers.

I actually think Tre was a little bit better than this. Forever Now is great stuff though. Middle is weak af

Young Blood is absolute horseshit lyrically but musically it isn't half bad.
