I get burned out from albums really easily so I haven't even jammed this more than once yet. Jammed it first last Monday, so I think today's the day to give it fresh listen #2. Kinda hope I can bump it. :3

The only thing holding this back from a 5 for me is occasionally her vocals get a little bit too far into the sharp/flat zone but overall I love how raw they are

I bet it's closer to than further away it.

And yeah that Zhrine album's pretty cool. Sput apparently likes it but not enough for anyone to actually review it eheh. Even though I'm fairly certain sput would asplode over it if it got any real exposure here.

I also don't know if I'd ever say this band had sludge influence on the last record, to me it sounded more like straight post metal influence

the Amenra influence is there for sure but the sludge shines in some parts. sludge is still doom+hardcore which anyone can say there's sludge thrown in when it's just chunky guitars.

Has its moments but this is honestly completely overrated. It's battle of mice with trendy blackgaze. Can't hear what's so singular or groundbreaking about this at all.

battle of mice sucks tbh. also not the band's fault if some resources are claiming it's groundbreaking tbh, it's just well done and is good for a number of reasons regardless of whether or not its constituents are "trendy"

Many of the chord progressions are predictable and if not for caro, I'm not entirely sure this album is as buzz worthy. Agree to disagree

caro is the deciding factor for sure. tho i thought quite a few of the transitions were pulled off without being too predictable

if their vocalist was a man who could do the same nasty screams I'm sure I wouldn't care. Definitely a bit of a coolness factory in having a woman vocalist who can shred vocal chords like that, though.
