Don't know, I preordered the vinyl box when this came out and was totally disappointed by how indistinct and dull it sounds. I really dig this one but production is def the greatest issue on here for me.

damn...a 4? You must really like the late 1980's mass produced Casio sound

Don't get the wrong idea. I am thankful this album exists. Allow me to explain. I will probably never listen to this recording this year, in fact, ...probably never again. But I do think it was a smart move for the band. Opeth has already covered a lot of ground as within the progressive genre alone, so recording this brings other fans to their side. Me personally, I love heavy stuff. I absolutely love Akerfeldt's growls, he is my favorite vocalist in that area without a doubt. But maybe some people want to see a side of Opeth that isn't so heavy. The band is capable of recording basically anything they want to and making it sound good. That being said, I personally, again, dislike this album because I miss the old Opeth. But to me, this is a good move by the band. I think their next album will be very enjoyable for both types of listeners.

Can only agree on that as Heritage was the reason I gave this band a second chance after initially been turned off by Mikael's growling. I just wasn't able to recognize how beautifully crafted the music was at that time. In the meantime however I'm totally into all of their stuff and preferring the earlier stuff by far. Ghost Reveries and MAYH are flawless masterpieces and quickly gained a place among my most beloved albums ever.

That is great to hear! Heritage it a great recording. I really like what they did there. I never listen to it because but I appreciate it.

@Dom, well my setup is nothing too special (Canton GLE speakers, Audio Technica AT LP 120 turntable, Yamaha A-S201 amp) but I def can tell when a LP has some production / mixing issues, especially when compared to some other vinyl. Tbh I can't tell for sure where it has been pressed. It's the European box set, might have been pressed in Germany... Where' s your version from?

Great to see so much discussion itt :D

Production wise, this is the worst Opeth to date. Vinyl excepted, haven't heard that version.

Take a Chicago album, drag it in the gravel for 17 miles, poor olive oil on it and put it on the record player
