Agreed sadly, there's also the 5.1 mix in a very expensive set and apparently it sucks too. Cursed album.
I'd still like to hear that surround though because their DVDs are generally their best-sounding versions (see Blackwater Park).

Really good review Nocte! You and I basically share the same opinions, like the new one being better than this or PC but not Heritage, and that Mikael is an excellent singer despite some moments of overdoing it.

Thankee Ben. I do really stand by that 30 year statement I made. It's the same with any industry - when you think you have done it all it you're actually doing a disservice. With Mikael's vocals at least he's still trying to develop them, shape and tweak them.

MAN the mix sounds great on that one. Glad they got that under control at least. Drums sound great, Axe is destroying it.
Vox are fine too, with the falsetto ones standing out, plus the backing ooooh's and aaaah's are a nice touch.

Well I think it's more streamlined than anything on here and on first listen I couldn't detect elements that annoyed me so that's a definite plus!
I guess it does sound similar though, true.
