Gotta relisten to this eventually. Feel like I spaced out a bit too much on first listen.

this album can work as background music as it has that druggy 70's vibe but it is worth really focusing on too

I believe this album has some real subtlety working for it but again you could easily still find this boring as his vocals are restrained as ever

The musical backing is lush by his standards on this one though

"Oh everyone knows a shoe makes far superior music to the table"

I mean... the table was an absolute beast once upon a time, but these days I can't imagine he's capable of coming out with anything close to this. Especially since he became aware that he is indeed a table.

Anyway, "It" is god-tier. Absolutely incredible song and by far my favorite on here.

The lyrics are up on Genius - not too many surprises, had most of them deciphered.

Reading the lyrics to 'Bum Bum Bum' you realise that it's even more explicitly about white on black racial persecution and violence than I'd realised, it's pretty non stop scathing throughout

"We're like two peas in a pod

Netflix and die"

For some reason this line cracks me up every time.

A lot of Cass's lyrics here I can't tell if they're intentionally goofy or not but he definitely has a good sense of humor.

He knows Boney, he knows - he loves delivering lines deadpan

Rancid Girl has grown on me so much, the way he sings "Every Which Way but Loose" creases me up so much, I just think of the ape and Clint drawling 'right turn Clyde' lol

The way this album is deadly serious about the shit state of the world AND is hilarious at points AND truly beautiful in others is genius

The idea that a deep love for "Every Which Way is Loose" is so incriminating and as scary as the girl having fucked up teeth and a drug habit :D

Hadn't listened in about a week or so, decided to dust it off (proverbially... I wish I had a physical copy of this) and yeah it's holding up well. So many neat little details lurking beneath the surface.

Yeah, he's one of those artists it's easy to underestimate but once you get his style you realise just how clever he's been
