Great review manos. You found me agreeing on many of your points here. Not a bad album at all but knowing how great the debut was, comparisons are unavoidable

Thank you Antonie!
In a nutshell, if Elin wasn't singing on this one I'd hardly spin the album more that a couple of times. But I have faith that they will return with a vengeance.

I believe they'll put much effort in the next one but still I have my reservations. Depends on how much 'freedom' Nuclear Blast gives them

Upon first listen, it gave me the impression of an album being inferior to their debut. But still, with all the absence of the guitars (which is very understandable from a genre point of view) and the lack of groovy songs, it's safe to say that this album is solid. Second and third listens reveal merits and small details i couldn't notice earlier.
Bottom-line, this is a fine album all-around (for soul-funk standards), it just lacks the material that made the previous album so popular: Anthemic choruses, appealing riffs and a number of catchy songs. It's evident that these guys are still searching for their musical niche and i truly believe they will find it on future releases.
