My logic regarding reviewing it early is that I have been listening to each new song on the days that they were released. Then on the release day of the final track, I managed to listen to the album a few times through and my views on it became clear quite quickly. I'm from the UK, so I was able to give it 2 or 3 spins, before the American contingent of listeners had woken up.

I'm pretty sure it's the name change. Comments on here when the announcement was first made pretty clearly displayed how the Sputnik userbase generally feels about supposed "PC oppression." See also: Reactions to the Michael Gira rape accusations (but muh Swaaaaahns) and TSSF's frontman dropkicking a girl off-stage.

This aint bad whats with the ratings

Album Rating: 3.5
I think the average will go up a bit after this gets a few dozen to a hundred ratings. It's not a huge deal, just surprising given Christmas Island was received quite a bit better despite a lot of people here seeming to consider it some of the band's worst material. That said, I don't think the rating's too left-field, just gives off the impression that some people are more fed up with the band as opposed to the actual music.

a few cunts can't handle the PC and are tanking the average

The reason the name change is so important, and how it correlates to this album's title, is because it basically proved that Andrew Jackson Jihad has no spine. He's more than willing to bash every other religion (as evidenced by this album's title and previous works) but changed his name to avoid offending a particular religion.
Dude sold out because he wanted to look good and get more modern fans (who are currently on that trend train). For that reason, I'll never listen to this album, or rate it, or anything of his in the future unless he changes his name back (which I doubt he will unless this is just a huge ploy)

i wasnt a fan of the name change but this seems a bit extreme no?
|
| |
People can't take his integrity seriously anymore after the name change for the reasons I explained above. I completely understand the low ratings.
|
| |
sounds petty to me. ill jam this eventually. gotta listen to the album with the bunny on it firth tho
|
| |
It's not really petty. This dude made his reputation on being offensive and pushing boundaries, when you literally change your band name and claim the reason for changing the name is something that you've based most of your discography on fighting against, the work seems pretty hypocritical.
Everything should be open to being made fun of. The fact that he's more than willing to make multiple albums bashing one religion but then goes as far as changing his name to respect another, brings his conviction into question.
