"Steak already hates him so much over him replacing Garrison in Erra."
Not only that, he replaced the store brand version of Garrison in Ian. JT just doesn't fit this type of band
Dude's a CLOWN my son, CLOWN

He kinda fits what they became but that doesn't make him any better, their songwriting just got worse. Losing Alan's riffs killed that band almost as much as losing Garrison did.

Yup. Everyone likes to suck Jesse's dick but Alan was the riffmaster behind their best songs and that became very apparent when each guitarist's new material came out after they split. Jesse is a really talented dude but pushing Alan out so he could spearhead the songwriting himself was such a bad move.

Agreed. Alan wrote Efflorescent, Heart, Frostbite, Rebirth, Prometheus, so many of the more melodic riffy shit and it shows. I still think Jesse can riff pretty hard, like on Ghost of Nothing, Sleeper, Hourglass, etc., but man Alan was just the Ying to Jesse's Yang

I'm just getting pissed now. It's getting close to fall/winter which is basically Invent Animate's time to shine. And instead of getting new music, we're just getting silence.

The hype completely died down a good while ago for me, they've been silent for too long

Steak my man, can you rec me some progressive metalcore in the vein of Invent Animate or early Northlane? I've got a craving for some new shit and every band I find doesn't scratch that itch, ya know?

Anything else?

That's tough because nobody else truly sounded like them, but I can think of a few occasions both recent and a little older.
Pridelands - Natives [EP] : So this is something that kinda captures old Northlane sound in both the atmosphere of the songs as well as the structures of the songs. The vocalist has a good yell that kiiiinda gets that same emotive feeling. Also they're aussie so it comes with the territory
Pridelands - Coalesce [Single] : Same as above only this really sounds like a mix of old and new Northlane
Diamond Construct - Diamond Construct [LP] : This came out this year, and they're aussie bois as well. This more so uses djent rather than progcore elements but it's a fine mix of the two, and it's a super fun time from start to finish
Windwaker - Empire [EP] : Another release from this year, not nearly as heavy as the above mentions (or Northlane for that matter) but it's still a good jam and the guitarist is outstanding
Reflections - The Color Clear [LP] : This one's kind of a stretch, but they were always brought up in the discussion when it came to progcore bands on the rise in the early 2010s
If I think of more I'll give you a mention, but there's some for now that might scratch that itch my boi

Yup. Guess Counterparts has the winter on lock this year tho. I'm perfectly fine with that.
