Very nice review cuz. Game of metal, i actually almost completely agree with your review. I haven't reached the point where i can give a definitive rating that im comfortable with, but as of right now, i have it somewhere between 3.6-3.8. To be honest, I have never really been into carnifex. The first time i actually listened to some of their music was around when Hell Chose Me got released. I listened to heartless off that album, and i loved it which made me wanna listen to their earlier stuff. After I did that, i was kinda dissapointed as their earlier stuff is average run of the mill deathcore at best.
But anywho, a about a month ago, i stumbled upon the drown me in blood music vid. And wow, that song and video really impressed me. So, i was looking forward to this release, and i actually downloaded it at midnight, on friday night/morning. I actually listened to a few of the songs in the car with my 6 year old son! LMAO. He loves the drown me in blood song and video. I got him into metal after he heard me listening to Ghost/Ghost B.C. He loves them and The Black Dahlia Murder at the current moment. Ill tell ya what, its probably the greatest feeling/experience in the world. Getting to listen to metal with my son and watching him listen, dance, and sing along to Ghost!! Ahahaha man its amazing. Btw, I dont think there is anything wrong with it, but if anyone thinks im a bad parent because of it, fuk em. But, sorry for the rambling rant.
Great review!! keep it M/
Ps- my favorite tracks at the moment are Dark Heart Ceremony and Drown me in Blood.

Ok, after listening to the album and hearing every song at least twice.... I got it sitting at about - 3.7/3.8.... Id say a 3.75.... So I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and rating it a 4.... Same rating as you game of metal.... Btw, I also agree that Carnifex created this album with some serious symphonic black metal/blackened death metal in mind. I'd say there is a bit more black metal than just black metal infuenced death... Even tho im not much of a genre guy other than mentioning it for classification-sake.... I'd say its 45% blackened metal/40% death, with a touch of core (15%).
And that 15% is what will keep the overall album rating lower than it should be. Taters gon Tate...

Ehhhh. It's okay. Not as diverse as I was lead to believe, but that's been the case over the last few albums. Might not rate this, tbh, and I've been loosely following the band for 10 years.

First extreme metal band I heard so I'm kind of invested in carnifex

Album Rating: 3.0
I felt invested for a while because I loved Dead in My Arms and The Diseased and The Poisoned (best drums in their discog, fight me) but their attempts to blend styles just end up being Carnifex with a dash of this or that for a few moments or songs and never a real change in direction. Summary on review is accurate for better or worse.

Yeah, this slays.

| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Saying this slays is a bit of a stretch for me but it's pretty enjoyable, probably tied with their previous one as their best work yet

Album Rating: 3.5
I wouldn't say this album as a whole "slays"... But a few songs def do. Tracks 1 and 3. And btw, game of metal, when you said there are no highlights on his album like where the light dies off of Die without Hope. I downloaded that song, and OMG. Fucking amazing, esp for this band.

And I actually have to lower my rating for this, sorry to say. Not enough great tracks to warant a 4. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I have to be consistent with my ratings.
