judging by the concept i think this girl is just another marketing shtick just like meghan trainor with her "Big Girl, You Are Beautiful" and Lana Del Rey's 1950s perfect wives gimmicks

at least this one is an interesting shtick? considering many of her videos have barely cracked 50k views, I'd say this one is more self contained, which to me makes it feel more natural and more like an actual project than either of those artists who were massed advertised through controversy. This one exists more for people to just accidentally stumble upon it and be wrapped up in it which is way cooler.

Well That Poppy doesn't seem like it's talking down to people, it's quite the opposite. That alone makes me appreciate it because they're at least trying to make the listener think.

Well, Titanic may be TRYING to talk down, fail or succeed. Considering that he makes stuff like this occasionally.

Then again, its possible he's also playing a character for the Poppy persona. Considering his videos all play out in the same style.

Yeah, he's clearly playing a character.

Also the passive aggression is all too real in that video.

Yeah, haha, not exactly a video I like just because the argument goes both ways when you make an entire video to make a point against something you allegedly aren't supposed to be caring about. But eh?

Im glad this review actually generated interest, at least, its glad to see this project is actually able to get a discussion rolling. For or against it.

from my POV i think Island is the only label that can pull this kind of stuff. they got pretty diverse rosters for a major label so its not surprising if they wanna play the oddball type seeing the music industry flooded with tropical house and trap beats for a good while now.

Yeah, a lot of satire and parodies are in danger of hypocrisy.

I don't know, this might be a weird comparison, but it almost reminds me of how Frank Zappa would parody things during his 79-84 era. At least in its spirit

I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about Frank Zappa's 79-84 era.

It was the Zappa era that went the heaviest on parodying things.

I'm kind of bummed that this isn't an actual protest statement. Everything's just a marketing technique I guess.

Beat me to reviewing this oh well, great write-up regardless.

Been a fan of Night Mind since the Marble Hornets days. Guy has gotten me into so many awesome ARGs (Alan Resnick's stuff in particular), with this being no exception. If she drops a legit LP, it's going to be some creepy shit, mark my words.

her videos only get progressively weirder. her last one was her repeating random numbers and the ones that were accompanied with a 'ding' gives you some sort of code? I dunno what thats about yet. Im hoping the LP has a lot more depth lyrically and in sound, I'd like to see some glitcher elements or something along those lines.

I saw some people saying the code was a phone number, and a few were saying they had called it and it was Poppy telling them never to call again, or something to that effect. Further down the comments somebody brought up how it could be a biblical passage

New video from a couple hours ago btw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS9f6_i6v3Q

Really hammering home the illuminati message now. I think some shit is seriously about to go down the next time we hear from her on the non-music channel, especially considering the tone and content of the past two videos.

It would make sense that iit was a biblical passage as she even has a video on her channel of her reading biblical pssages. Haven't been abLe to see the video yet but I am excited for this development.

Also lets get Clarence Clarity to produce a Poppy track please.
