Alex Bois was a much better fit than Mark

"Alex Bois was a much better fit than Mark"

One observation I've made with the 2 new singles is that there is basically no Holcombness in any of the parts, perhaps he is being somewhat wasted in Periphery. Maybe he's keeping it all for the next Haunted Shores album...?

Which riffs were written by Bois?

And Blood Eagle was written by Holcomb, or at the very least, the heavy as balls riff after the solo was his. Because Holcomb writes both the most brutal and the prettiest riffs.

Ah okay, that didn't really sound like a Holcomb riff to me though, but it's a badass riff

butt.

“Name a good periphery song”

Luck as a Constant. Guitars and vocals were both 100% top notch. Omega is also a crazy good song, though it would be better without the clean vox.

Anyone heard the Haunted Shores version of Sentient Glow yet? That's making me hyped to hear it on P4.

Yeah, that version has been around for almost a decade now. I'm curious to see how Spencer's vocals fit in as a replacement for Chris Barretto's.

Blood Eagle seems pretty Misha. I always associate Mark with their black metal influenced parts.

My distinction is: Misha write the groovy percussive riffs, Jake writes the odd time and more conventional riffs, Mark writes the melodic, chord-y and angular riffs.

New song is awful.

Disappointing since 'Blood Eagle' was the most interesting thing they've put out in over half a decade.

This sound they're going for is just so out-dated already.

I'm not hearing the "awful" in that song I guess.
