I liked this more than I thought I would.

Simon Neil's voice is definitely a grower, but I think he plays to his strengths well. Some interesting inflections that can be a bit offputting though!

I definitely didn't care for Opposites either - it just never resonated with me at all.
Maybe the fact that this is relatively straightforward (if not a little weird) is a welcome change for me.

I did my review before I heard the deluxe edition tracks - they're both pretty stellar.

Yeah, the bonus tracks are where it's at. Still trying to comprehend why they left them off the "main attraction".

Fair point, although I think 'People' should still be the closer, and maybe the other two worked into the main body of the record.

No complaints here Jom, other review slayed it!

They should have just had the deluxe edition as the standard and only released that. Wee Man finishes the album off so much better than People

I can't get over the production. It sounds painfully overproduced, when I kind of expected/wanted a more rough, gritty sounding record.
Stick with the same songs even, just.. it feels so poor and too over polished.
Can't help but personally feel disappointed.

Hey man, maybe I have zero taste in music but I just wanted that feeling of being slapped hard in the face like In The Name Of The Wee Man borders on, rather than just feeling lacklustre and underwhelmed.

This is a massive disappointment. In the Name of the Wee Man is the only track worthy of Biffy's legacy here. The rest... it's all so sterilised and focus-grouped. Sounds more like Muse crossed with Don Broco than the band I used to know.

Well, it's better than the artwork I guess.

Given this a few proper listens and though I enjoyed several songs, as a band they're a shadow of their former selves. Probably won't get too many full listens again in future
