Weirdly, Blood Inside was pretty much love at first listen for me - weird album, but so many cool ideas

I love the first half of Blood Inside. Jamming Coyote again right now and enjoying it, lots of interesting things going on for sure. Don't think it's ever gonna eclipse another Kayo Dot album though.

Would you kill me if I gave Coyote an edge over this ;]

No but I'll always champion this one; one of the most unique albums of the past decade and generally underappreciated compared to their others. It's not as good as Choirs or Dowsing, but it's certainly one of their best since those two.

Just listened to this again to prepare me for the new one. I more or less gave this a once over on release, I really didn't remember it being so challenging. Some sections on this are fucking ruckus. Vox could be a lot better though

I feel like Phobos has Drivers best singing, and Blasphemy has his worst

@Johnny oh shit well this listen got me more hyped for the new one, so I guess I'll try to leave my expectations at the door. I'm just praying for a couple more dense parts is all

It’s clearly his best. No other release goes to the sci-fi heights of beauty. This album is like music reaching the absolute pinnacle of what is possible.

And yeah I love Coffins I 5’d that too but this is so much more of a textural, harmonic data stream coming at you, basically doesn’t get any better. It’s his more mature release. Like New Susumu Hirasawa rising from the ashes to produce a brand new futuristic album. That’d be the day.

If it's his most mature release then why does that sci-fi vibe feel like a pretty thin veneer over obsessive retro-isms and janky pacing
Blue Lambency is more harmonically interesting imo and is objectively better because you can pretend it's a secret forest orgy and not a spaceportal spacesuit nudge shuffle clunkfest
