Dark Necessities is really good, as are t/t, Dream of a Samurai, and Encore, but Go Robot might be my favourite.

My least favorite, but still a good song, is The Longest Wave. Tis a very enjoyable listen all the way thru

Dark Necessities is really great track. One lf their best singles. Apart from some missteps here, this was a really solid follow up to the extremely disappointing I'm With You. Giving Josh a bit more of the creative reins led to quite a refreshing sound which makes the decision to kick him out instead of incorporating 2 guitarists and taking off in a new era with a new sound quite a braindead decision.

it's a braindead take to assume that either of them would accept shared duties on guitar or that it'd work

Chili Peppers with 2 guitarists? Hmm...

...I don't know what to do with that. I would give it a go if they ever tried it.

Chilis with 2 guitarists wouldn't even be that weird. They're basically a jam band anyway.

They stole a riff from Crazy Town. Nuff said.

I've never listened to this or I'm With You, am I missing much?

I don't know about any two guitarists, but I'd be down for a Josh/John duet. Besides, John writes so many guitar layers, it wouldn't be that weird sounding or illogical for live presence.

LOL

"I've never listened to this or I'm With You, am I missing much?"

There are a few decent tracks. The lead single was the worst song on the album, though.

Lead single was Dark Necessities? Pretty great song I think. Come to think of it, this might very well be RHCP's most consistent album. Doesn't hurt that it's their shortest since the '80s, but every song on this is good to very good.

It's both consistent album and had a perfect timing for me - when a girl I was seeing was only talking about RHCP and how much I reminded her of Frisciante (I look nothing like him) and on the side, it just started playing RHCP where I work, lol.

"when a girl I was seeing was only talking about RHCP and how much I reminded her of Frisciante"

Maybe she was referring to your heroin addiction. HEYOOOOO!

But yeah, if this is the shape of future RHCP (which it probably won't be given that the Froosh is back in the band) it would have boded well for a maturing RHCP.

For some reason I only saw "I'm With You". This album is definitely better, and the lead single on this album is pretty good. I'm typically pretty critical of new albums of bands that I don't expect much of anymore, but I definitely enjoyed this album more than I thought I would. Of course it's not as good as their best stuff, but for what it is I think it's pretty solid.
