Yeah, I think is pretty decent.
If anything, it's far better than the turd that was I'm With You.

It's a good album. Dark Necessities was a really good track to lead off as a single, it got me pretty hyped for the album, honestly.
And the ending of Goodbye Angels... hnnngggghhhhh

This has some really nice tunes but a lot of filler as well iirc.

ok checked this and it is the Peppers for sure, it is a little light, but they are getting older, I think they have settled in a great place, chill with a little funk here and there

Right, I'm going to say it. This band was the first one I ever loved, and I became obsessed with them at 15. I cooled off like fuck since then, but - this is my favourite album by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The production and mixing (Danger Mouse and Nigel Godrich, what a fucking combo) is a remarkable fit for them, as is the more chilled approach. The songwriting is the most consistent it's ever been through an album - only 2 clunkers here IMO (Detroit and This Ticonderoga). I don't think any other album by them has so few filler tracks.
I'm still listening to this album quite consistently a year later, and it sounds absolutely lush on vinyl.

not sure if serious?
the production is flat and lifeless and whatever drums haven't been replaced by machines, samples, handclaps etc sound like shite

Absolutely serious. I obviously can't tell you that you're wrong, but I would honestly say this is one of the better produced albums of 2016. The soundscape compared to previous RHCP albums, especially those Rick Rubin mastering nightmares, is like comparing fine wine to hobo urine. Danger Mouse and Nigel Godrich are absolute masters.
Check the drums on Dreams of a Samurai, or the guitar tones on Feasting on the Flowers.
@TheNateman - it's obviously not going to stack up to any of their previous highlights songwise, but as a listening experience it's my favourite. Try it again with lower expectations for something to chill to.
