probably because he did? the post said there was a small chance of him even waking up again according to the doctors but he did and continued touring, guessing that was a strong hint to him he was on borrowed time

"better not to leave a comment then my dude"
As sad as the news is, this is a comments section about the album, not a memorial page

the comment "i mean rip and all" is just dickish a man died at 28 years old

Yeah probably if you wanna take it that way. I saw it as just wanting to share their views about the album but also say rip

You'll learn that comments sections for albums on sputnik often take on lives of their own and digress far from discussing the record. A memorial isn't an inappropriate thing at all here. Obviously you're entitled to your own opinions; it might just be an inopportune time to be writing less than positive things about Tom's work. That's all. Give it some time and we can pick up your conversation later.

I just watched that tribute video. Man, those lyrics make Memento Mori so much more massive. Tom has some real lyrical gems throughout this record, not just on MM.

I have been rocking this album since its release it is easily one of my favorite albums of the year. I don't think their previous stuff is even that great. This is the first one that seems to have incorporated some melody to all the chugging.

For those who are curious, the track C.A.N.C.E.R (from their last record) was written about Tom's revelation that he had cancer. A good chunk of this record (Memento Mori, Gone With The Wind, The Empty Hourglass) is more than likely about his decline. Really heartbreaking stuff.

I figured that that was what C.A.N.C.E.R. was written about after listening through their discography a couple of times yesterday. The past two albums are almost an autobiography in a way

I always just assumed that Sam wrote the lyrics, I didn't know he was also the lyricist until he passed

One thing I really enjoy about the last two records by these guys is the production; it is fucking insane.

yes yes i know comments sections derail to lots of things, but just cos a band member died doesn't mean people who want to voice their negative opinions on an album should wait awhile to say them

it's about showing respect. "hey man i know the band you poured your heart and soul into until you died of cancer sucked balls but rip i guess"

Listened to this again after Toms untimely death. Still my least favourite album of theirs, but holy crap Memento Mori has a totally new context all of a sudden.

"probably because he did? the post said there was a small chance of him even waking up again according to the doctors but he did and continued touring, guessing that was a strong hint to him he was on borrowed time"
In fairness, that part happened a couple of weeks after the album was released.
