Some of their singles are new tracks as well, so it gets confusing. But everything noted as EP on Wikipedia up to Love's Easy Tears is all new tracks, except for one HOH track on Sunburst And Snowblind.
I guess I can also recommend Aikea-Guinea since you like Treasure a lot and that one was around that time

Ah cool, I'll check the Wikipedia list. Or maybe a compilation like this one https://www.discogs.com/Cocteau-Twins-Lullabies-To-Violaine-Singles-And-Extended-Plays-1982-1996/master/248413
That seems very all-encompassing, jeesh! 4 CDs!

yeah that collection has the lot. a huge chunk of their best material is on their EPs and singles

I'm going properly through their discog for the first time now, going chronologically. Should I hit the EPs as I go or cover the LPs first and then go back for EPs if I still want more?

I'm doing that now Boney and it is satisfying because you first get the chronological taste and then get to revisit those eras on the EP comp.
But hey, I don't know the EPs yet so maybe someone who does will completely disagree haha!

You should be fine without the EPs first, but be sure to check them, at least those released around the time of the albums you liked best. There's a ton of amazing tracks on them.
That said, chronologically wouldn't necessarily be my recommended order for them, mostly because Garlands is pretty average . . . Treasure is probably the best starting point, since it's accessible and indicative of the typical Cocteau Twins atmosphere at the same time (while Heaven Or Las Vegas, while being even more accessible, was a departure from their 80s sound).

I've actually already started, heard Garlands and Head Over Heels and really enjoyed both but especially loved Garlands, excellent album, seems insanely underrated to me. Generally for artists with relatively manageablly sized discographies and who seem fairly consistent I prefer to go chronologically to watch their development, plus since I've already heard most or all of the LPs to some degree I'm already generally familiar with them/their sound and know I am going to enjoy everything to some extent.

Yeah, that works as well I guess!
It's a great discography. Garlands will always be the odd one out for me though.

Garland was sooooooo dark, super surprised to see they came from there.

Slowdive were definitely listening to this album when they recorded Pygmalion.

Yeah, this + Spleen and Ideal + Laughing Stock = Pygmalion

Spleen and Ideal by Dead Can Dance? Did Slowdive say that or is it your opinion? That's a pretty fantastic trio of influences if so.

Just my opinion haha - I don't hear as much of that one's sound in Pyg as a whole (although I think it's still there), but Miranda could have come straight out of its playbook

I don't recall anything that sounds sounds like Dead Can Dance. But yeah, it's coming from Bark Psychosis, Talk Talk, Seefeel etc

If Miranda isn't Lisa Gerrard worship I don't know what is

Vocally? Maybe. I haven't listened to the album in a while and vocals are not usually what I remember.

Vocally but they way they underpin the whole thing with an alternating minor arpeggio is classic DCD (Cantata, Writing On My Father's Hand)

I'm listening now and I can see what you mean. But Lisa herself was just worshipping the Bulgarian State Television Choir so :D

Dead Can Dance is still something I think I would really enjoy but it didn't happen yet. I've checked some of their older ones and Anastasis.
I'll try again soon.
