I had a dream that this had harsh vocals on it and it felt so real.

Gonna jam this in a minute. Serein's chorus is simply stunning, so much hype.

My first impressions are positive, but I do feel like something is missing. Katatonia albums, in my experience, need plenty of time to fully and properly evaluate. Typically they leave a good, if not strong first impression, grow more in the short run, and then settle back a little in the long run. I suppose you could say that about most music that has any staying power, but Katatonia bring that to my attention more than most bands.

I think a lot of people are hyped for this and a little bummed if not blown away upon first listen. I think it just needs time to soak in.

Agreed Doctor, I wasn't blown away (not always, at least!) but for me it's clear that this has big grower qualities.

The Night Subscriber has that great mix of heavier instrumental parts with real melodic vocal lines ala Forsaker. Good stuff.

Shifts is lovely, but not digging that civil defense alarm in the background. I usually like layers in my music with subtle samples, but this just kinda distracted me.

Shifts surprised me, the chorus' hook grew on me very quickly.

Hook rules, catchy as fuck. On my 5th listen through of the day. I love this band so much.

surprised by the relatively lukewarm reception this has gotten from a lot of people. personally, it's lived up to my lofty expectations and is probably my current AotY.

How the hell do you listen to an album 5 times in one day lol I would do an album like twice in a day at most and even that happens infrequently

That's impressive dude. I'll be driving back and forth from Richmond to DC on Sunday, and I can't wait to listen to this in my car there and back. I have a feeling it will sound better at night on the drive home.

Yeah I'm fanboying pretty hard too. Idk if this is AOTY so far though cause Vektor, but it's at least second for me.

I loved Terminal Redux, but Katatonia's my second-favorite band of all time and this might be one of their best albums yet so between the two my (biased) choice is pretty clear. plus this style of music is more my thing than thrash anyway, as much as I enjoy it.

Yeah, I love this but I'm gonna need a lot more time with it. A lot of cool little details in this. Miss their old drummer but they don't miss a step here.
