Did anyone hear their second single now? It's somewhat different in terms of vocal stylings, but i already love it

Yes they are. Especially "Home" is one of their best songs so far

Only heard 'Home' but wasn't really consciously listening. Seemed like a cool track

Seems like this album is the strongest debut since like... forever? Maybe not really forever but hell. I can't really tell something special about Statues, it speaks for itself. It's so good it seems like it's a gift from an outerspace, from Interstellar's time-dimensional beings who know everything about us and our most sacred wishes, especially musical ones. Everything is here: from exceptional hooks to a straight up prog/math-rock insanity. They sound like Karnivool's beefy, athletic avatar. The only real complaint could be about a predictability which album showcases towards the end. After "Savior" you already know what to expect: the band will nail a bunch of Mastodonian riffs atop some Dillingerian rhythms, then comes Will - first he lures us with a fluid clean melody and then he rips his guts apart with his inhuman screams. Although I think this complaint is nothing more than a nibble - at least in "Statues" case - we got next album on its way and I'm somewhat worried, because the songwriting in all singles by far showcased an unlikely shift in quality. Will's cleans felt significantly less comfortable and not least because of questionable melodies; where are the vocal hooks of "Glass built castles", "Saviour", "Crooks", "Say you will", "Set in Stone" level? etc. I hope that this is only the case for singles tho...

I have a good feeling that the new one is going to live up to their debut

Production doesn't seem quite as good on the new singles but they're all super solid tracks, so I think you may be right

The production has neutered the drums which weere punchy and great and carried this album so yes I'm worried

Agreed. Some of the best drum sounds I've ever heard. The snare..

Can’t say I’m that impressed with the new songs. I’ve still pre-ordered the album

Can't Sleep is a fucking tune tho. Two singles after that are getting me worried yeah.

Nope, all singles were solid to downright awesome for me. Aside from production, it will most likely be of the same quality

Home grew on me alot. Can't Sleep is cool. I honestly don't recall anything from the other one. There's another one that was released to online radio that I haven't bothered to check out since quality is probably awful
|

completely missed out on the fact they had an ep coming. gotta check it out
|

The song they played on the radio last weekend 'Eternal Light' might be my favourite for now. Damn that song goes hard.
