As a side note, it's funny to me that the summary for this review is: finding "balance"

“It technically is going to be midnight in New Zealand in about 15 minutes so the song will pop up on their spotify. Might as well listen to it man”

Haha I’m in Aus so almost midnight here too, but I meant the reveal on YouTube, but when the album releases you bet I’ll be binging it as soon as it’s available

Definitely better production than Gore. Feels more alive and textured.

the couple of new songs we've gotten officially are having me feeling this new record will make more sense as a followup to KNY than Gore - which i suppose will just retain if not increase its status as something of a "black sheep" for them

yep, DE, KNY and Ohms will make up the Sergio era trilogy

Gore, although great, just doesn't seem to be cut from the same sonic cloth as these three

"the couple of new songs we've gotten officially are having me feeling this new record will make more sense as a followup to KNY than Gore"

I think I mentioned it in DE thread, but I kinda iterated the same thing. Like this album feels like a trilogy capper to the sound they found on DE and KNY. Even if Ohms isn't quite in the same league as those two, as long as it compliments them well, this will be a major improvement over the mediocrity of Gore.

May it also serve the dual purpose of temporarily augmenting the mediocrity of your life

Phantom Bride is the worst song here easily.

Also didn't Pitchfork say this is their best album? Or am I remembering that wrong?
