Wow I'm definitely out of loop on this one, not feeling it at all :/

Nope I didn't but it certainly is rad, every song on here is pretty enjoyable. I've been loving the hell out of South Winds and Frail particularly.

Maybe I'm just in a fucked up place / being a sappy bitch but I think this is his most emotional record yet. I love it.

marvellous album

Doom tested, flug approved.

This is some of Ihsahn's simplest ever work but its just so well crafted. Such a strong album start to finish. Celestial Violence is epic as fuck.

Does this (and his previous releases) follow the same line as Prometheus? Been interested in this guy, but the only Emperor album i adore is Prometheus and i've read it was mainly Ihsahn's work.
Thanks.

It doesn't sound like Emperor. This is much more in line with his last few albums but with more focused songwriting as opposed to the more progressive approach on After/Eremita. Don't let that deter you, his solo records from 2010 on have been right up there with his work in Emperor, purely in terms of quality.

I'm thinking the closest that sounds sorta like Emperor off this album is probably Pressure.

I've been enjoying this more than any other release from 2016 thus far.

Cult of Luna's latest album was pretty neat. Never heard of them before, but it really caught my attention and liked the female vocals (unpopular opinion, I know).

woah woah woah
liking julie's vox on the new CoL is an unpopular opinion? wtf happened to this site
and yea she's not a regular member you should check their older stuff as well, band rules hard
if you want to hear another post-metal record with her on vox, check out battle of mice

Ι knew some things about them since Vertikal, but never really listened to that disc, nor anything else. I know Julie isn't a regular member, which makes them even more cooler. I hope I'll get more into their sound eventually, but for now The Marinner is the only one I can handle.
Unpopular opinion if you consider the hate on Sound-offs. Many people claiming that they ruined post metal with the female vocals and that their sound is bad now. At least, some of the sound offs I saw.
