Bruh I would kill for a remaster of Ground Dweller.

The production is pretty meh but it's still a 4.5 for me, I don't mind it

Fountainhead is bottom 3 on Unimagine and it's still leagues better than the new one.

Ground Dweller is a hard 4.5 to this day. I still remember finding it because it was number 1 on trending albums for this site

Ground Dweller rules hard. Can't say l have listened to much from these guys besides their debut.

Not much else is worth it after the debut tbh

I enjoyed Unimagine quite a bit. Ground Dweller is still far superior but Unimagine is definitely worth a listen.
I really don't get the whole "toning it down" is equivalent to "improving as songwriters" because that's the mindset these guys seem to have and I can't say it's worked for them.
Granted, if this album was more like I Am this would probably be a good album

They totally improved as songwriters on Unimagine. Ground Dweller is pretty fresh from a purely sonic standpoint and has several awesome tracks but by god the songs are a total mess structurally, it sounds like an amateur band just tossing ideas around (and for the most part it was). Transitions were really weak which is a common symptom of debut albums for young bands, I mean just listen to This Ain't No Place For Animals which is a great song but a complete mess at the same time.
A lot of people like that choppy sound because it showcases unbridled youth and experimentation and "just some guys making music" or something like that but I definitely like their songs on Unimagine where they actually learned how to bridge their ideas into a cohesive unit.

I haven't listened to either in a while, but Ground Dweller never seemed choppy. If this is more cohesive, it's only because they stopped being adventurous and decided to write verse chorus songs

I can't say I agree with choppiness. The transitions feel interesting, especially in a song like This Ain't No Place For Animals which is probably my 2nd favorite song by them. Honestly, the album really isn't too crazy, it's just so god damn engaging.
Those songs have these epic climaxes that none of these even come close to touching save for I Am. I Am is always the exception

this band's heaviness feels so cringey/forced. 3 bad singles and now I'm pretty positive this new one will be even worse than this
