I.Love.This.Album.

My only beef is that its only two tracks long, and theres a whole plethora of material left over from these sessions as well.

However, Right Off might have the best Miles solo ever recorded.

I know Right Off very well and since a very long time, glad to see it's coming from Miles Davis. I really need to know his electric period, where jazz-rock fusion was born.

Yesternow is weird. They jam on that first bass riff for too long I think, and it's strange that they edited in that part from "Shhh/Peaceful", but there's still some sweet jamming and then that last two minutes or so when it just completely changes. That's my favourite part of it.

Good review. I've just listened to this album for the first time, and it's just...incredible. I'll agree with the author - it's all about 'Right Off', though 'Yesternow' is good as well.

I prefer In A Silent Way ^ but haven't heard anything after this one yet. I reckon if they had trimmed 10 minutes off this album I'd 5 it.

Silent Way is great, but I find it a bit dull in parts. This is so much more visceral to me, the rhythm section on Right Off are incredible

Mclaughlin's intro to Right Off is the highlight of the album. Along with Hancock's toy organ solo

Holy fuck, what a compelling review. I'm downloading this right now based on the review alone. Also, I'm listening to Blind Faith's self-titled currently, and I am digging the shit out of that record. Looks like it's going to be a funky kind of Tuesday morning for Pat.

Anyone else notice that the riff McLaughlin plays around the 18 minute mark of "Right Off" is very, very simialr to Jimi Hendrix's riff in the exposition of "Machine Gun" from Band Of Gypsys? So cool.

I've heard another well known jazz formation playing Right Off but dammit I can't remember who. Since then I ask myself which one is the original.
