"sometimes it's the lack of noodling that makes a riff perfect. fact."
I listen to a lot of doom, so I recognize that fact. But with those riffs you get groove. If you play them you know what makes them work. And bm riffs have other spartan qualities.
But the Demon verse is more like a... melodic riff that shouldn't be as good as it is, imo.
Alright I am now overthinking this.

Honestly I think it's the drive of Lopez' double bass rooting it that makes it so cool when it comes in, especially after the fill just before it

When is my fave Opeth tune currently. It has it all, and flashes by so quickly I still can't believe it's nine minutes long. I said currently, since it changes all the time, but wow, what a track

Yup, they must have jammed this out.

All the bumps for this album makes me want to jam it again. Will be a great complement to my Enslaved binge.

How big are Opeth in Sweden? Does the general Nilsson realize that the best metal band for +10 years was Swedish?

I suppose they're quite big over here if you're into metal. Hard to tell though.

Just can repeat myself, it's absloutely on par with Ghost Reveries for me. This has the raw edge and dark atmosphere, GR holds the perfect balance between total havoc and haunting beauty.

Agreed, some days I feel Ghost Reveries takes the cake, but this does so more often. But yeah, GR is definitely very close in quality.
