"This one along with weighing souls with sand would be the most overwhelming/powerful album ive ever heard"
Weighing Souls needs a reissue on cd asap (I don't get why they reissued Coma Waering on cd, but not Weighing Souls). My metal collection on cd feels lacking without it.
The first two Rosetta albums are two of the most desolate and massive sounding albums in post-metal, and that's saying something.

Weighing Souls is way better imo

Different styles. Both are superb imo.

Both are intensely cathartic experiences, WSWS is the more harrowing of the two largely because of the tragedy that would soon befall them whereas this probably more empowering and doesn't leave you feeling quite so low. idk where the hell this is going, the fact is they're both masterpieces

both masterpieces [2]
And Weighing Souls needs a reissue on CD goddammit!!!

I think in order to fully appreciate this album you have to recognize that they put out two CD's at once that were intended to be played at the same time. That's such a ridiculous thing to do in 2005.

Some say Rosetta stole the idea from Neurosis.

yeah its not that ridiculous when the group they were directly influenced by had the same initiative ~ a decade earlier. I prefer this to neurosis' though

I wonder if the reviewer still feels this way about "Au Pays Natal". Cause he's fucking wrong.

Only way to listen to this is both CDs combined.

I disagree. The first 5 tracks sound perfect without them combined, but it does add to it.

I prefer it unmixed as well. I think it depends how you approach it - I was unaware that you could combine them, and when I bought it from the guys in '07 on tour with Battlefields they didn't mention that you could do it. I used to listen to both of them as I slept on random.
When I heard you could mix them I checked it out, and obv mind was blown, but I'd already fallen for disc 1 as it was and couldn't see myself casually listening to the mixed version. Its a bit overbearing, I think?

combined version of this is really an experience

Jamming the combined version now, one on my stereo and one on my (surprisingly good quality) bluetooth shower speaker lol. Love the individual discs but listening to both is a special experience.

o.o idk how you managed to sync it up but I'd imagine that having them coming from seperate speakers would be crazy. I've never listened to it combined any other way than digitally.
Anyone else watch the banger.tv lock horns specials? Somehow they made it through the episode without putting Rosetta in the post metal tree. Awful.
