ftr my comments were in response to the discussion on hand and not the review itself (which i didn't read)

"Atomic is literally one of my favorite people on this entire site so yeah I don't get the swift and heavy handed backlash. Also his writing as a whole is top-notch."

i dont know him well but he has never bothered me, this review was just very poor. he took the criticism with humility though so no need to continue to shit on him.

"I come to Sput because writing and reading about music is a nice break from the rest of my life, and because I genuinely enjoy participating in the community. I also think that (for me at least) editing every review would take most of the joy out of being here."

definitely a fair point. there's gotta be someone for whom editing would be in their wheelhouse, though. there have been 26 staff reviews since 10/15, roughly 3 months ago. assuming that's a normal volume of reviews (it might not be because of thanksgiving and xmas), we're talking 2-3 reviews a week, which isn't that much work really.

just a thought from someone with no horse in this race other than enjoying sputnik in general.

well i mean if ur a user all the power to you if you want to write a shit review and not edit it, who cares, but if your staff or contrib maybe you shouldnt accept the title if you don't plan on at least attempting to put out quality reviews, just makes the site look bad tbh.

having said that i really don't care about the sites perceived reviewing credibility since i don't review like ever

Pots with that poison pen o' yours I'm kinda disappointed you don't turn that towards full reviews sometimes.

I mean by the time you've added together five of your longer comments there's often the makings of a review in there

Biggest criticism of the site? Not enough humour in the staff/user reviews

^This. All too typically users fall into one of two categories: 1) the joker, or 2) the super-serious, gunning for staff after 3 reviews type. We need more guys (or gals, that would be a great day) who can balance humor and professionalism the way Chan used to. Nothing is worse than someone who isn't naturally funny trying to force it though, which is why I don't really bother very often. I've had some accidental one-liners here and there that were all too perfect, but nothing consistently humorous.

Yeah we could do with some gold-plated negative-yet-humorous reviews

The site sometimes has the feel of an abuse victim's support group - 'once Pitchfork rated my favourite album 3/10 and I never want to feel like that EVER again' sort of thing. There's space for considered and entertaining negativity in reviews

I agree that it would be great if there were more humor in reviews. Unfortunately i'm not funny enough to do it myself

I do a few of them even though I'm painfully unfunny

There's no lack of amusing threads on the site so the talent pool is already there lol, definite potential for more humorous reviews

I think it's his destiny to review that album and break the Internet

We've got doof to do that. He is scribbling away as we speak about the new melody they've inserted into the new claw grab prize cabinet they've installed at his local chippy.

The context, the fact we are all witness to this album as it was and will see it carried off into the realms of the legendary as it rightly should, the vision and execution, the quality, class and cool.

This album has the lot but on simple terms Daves vocals are the absolute tits.
