Definitely enjoy this more then their last one. This album has such a great atmosphere, and I enjoy how tired and resigned she sounds. It helps to keep your attention on the lyrics.

this is a lot more musically interesting than their debut. they should do more upbeat-ish songs like no care tho

More upbeat songs like Fossa, more so.

I agree that they could stand to have more tempo variation

At the same time though the fact that this pounds that depressing atmosphere into you is part of what makes it so good

Oh yeah, couldn't agree more. I'm just anxious to see what they could do with ambiances that are less despondent.

I love "If You Leave" and "Not To Disappear" for what they are in that regard, but I'm equally anxious to see what the future holds for these guys.

I've been loving both these albums on the cold winter drive to work the last month.

yeah this album is definitely a grower, especially the slower more atmospheric tracks. "alone/with you" and "how" are really gorgeous.

I still jam this once or twice a week. Very good album especially the middle section.

After some dedicated listening, I believe I like this album just a touch more than If You Leave. While IYL has some absolutely incredible tracks, I tend to get a little lost in the middle section; the album blurs together a bit. NTD does not have that issue at all. It's a pretty solid listen through and through.

Daughter released a new song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tnUx4d9QAI

It sounds a lot like Not to Disappear, apart from the strange outro, so it might just be something that didn't make the album.

This is turning to be pretty good. Only 3 songs in and already proved me wrong on what I remembered of Daughter.

One of my favorites from this year, but I always was a fan of that original atmospheric 4AD sound: Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Dead Can Dance, Etc.

I like that sound too but this was just yawn for me.

yeah, a lot of people agree with you on that. maybe I'm just 4AD starved, but I'm still spinning it regularly.
