Calc, I don't disagree, but as it comes to FOB and Panic!, when one is mentioned, I would say the other isn't far behind in the popular conscious. Hence, that's the prevailing reason as to why they'll be compared, not so much for stylistic similarity.

When Save Rock + Roll came out (or more specifically 'My Songs Know...'), followed by 'Miss Jackson', I was a little disappointed that the stylistic change was so identical, and the same goes for 'Uma Thurman' followed by 'Don't Threaten Me...' - it's like patting each other on the back in sequence.
Panic! do it better though.

nailed why crazy=genius is bad, but i gotta disagree on the uma thurman/Don't threaten comparison. Uma is a shit song and the sample is lolbad. this actually uses the sample riff in a hype and entertaining way.

House of Memories would be 100% better without the "Oh-ohoh" chorus. Same thing with the Death of a Bachelor chorus. It's like he doesn't want to use his amazing voice to the fullest. LA Devotee is the only great track(the "oh-oh"s are tolerable here for some reason)

I was seriously concerned about this album, but it's actually really really good. Tbh all the non-single tracks are my favourites, but as a whole this album is cohesive and a lot of fun to listen to. I was gonna write a review but we have 4 already, I don't think we need another

It's pretty fun, but not as much as Fever and Vices.

^you're forgetting about their best album. it's in-between the two you mentioned

Never jammed that one, so can't speak for it.

Finished the album and I think its very fun and very catchy. I would give it a 3.2 or a 3.3 (might bump to a 3.5, but I'll sit at the 3 for now). Urie's vocal performance is fantastic. I just wish that the tracks were more interesting and more memorable.
This is miles ahead of too rare though.

anything is better than Pretty. Odd.
Pretty sure people only claim it's their best to sound edgy...

I think some people only like it because it's their most 'professional' and artistic album

I hated Too Weird to Live too, but this is quite good, that style done right at least.
|

I completely agree with SonofSnow. Aside from this is gospel and miss jackson, too weird is awfuly boring

'Too Rare...' sounds like the unreleased demos from this to be honest - every idea that's carried over into this style is so much better developed.
I have hope for Panic! again, which is just completely unexpected...

I loved most of that album tbh

I don't know whether my distaste for it was because it followed 3 albums I really liked or whether the songs were just... bad.

This Is Gospel, Vegas Lights and Girls/Girls/Boys are some of their best songs though
