When I was a kid, I always interpreted The Duelists as depicting the last duel the protagonist from Flash of the Blade fights, with him dying tragically in the end as a result of pursuing vengeance. Both songs present their imagery as intensely as anything in the last two epics so I always took them as being two parts of a concept.
