It's surprisingly really good. Easily their best since Vol. 3.
I'm on Spiders now and I'm loving the Halloweeny vibes. Good shittt.

Gray Chapter was an instant love, and I feel like this may be a big grower. Really curious to see where I'll stand a month from now, I'll either be calling this their best since 2001 or forgetting about it. Probably the latter. Listening to Spiders again and I'm already liking more than the first time, especially after someone noted that the piano is very reminiscent of Halloween. But the "spiders spiders spiders" part is cheesy as fuck
@rowan totally agreed, most people on reddit aren't talking about liar's funeral at all but it is huge for them. very mature from songwriting perspective, feels very fully fleshed out. there's a lot to unpack here

also gotta say I love what they did with My Pain, it's certainly not a "banger" or crowd pleaser by any means, but it's ballsy to put a long brooding atmospheric track in a 2019 slipknot album. last time they did something like that was the Iowa title track, which is an untouchable song, but cool to hear something in that vein again!

Liar's Funeral, Red Flag and My Pain are easily my favourites. brooding slowburn Slipknot is the best
solid album, best since Vol 3 fersure

Damn, listening to Not Long for this World again and they just did it so well. It hits so hard, not even necessarily in a *brutal* heavy way, but in a heavy way that punches your soul. The last 30 seconds are off the fucking wall.
I love how not a single song on here is like Unsainted. It's such a red herring, because this is not an album full of singles. Not even close.

I actually like Unsainted but you could drop it for All Out Life and the album would be better off

I thought Unsainted was perfectly fine and people were really overreacting to it.

Will say this though, Death Because of Death is a really pointless and annoying interlude.

nah I like Death Because of Death - like everything on there really but it starts a bit weaker
those weird creepy interludes are what made Slipknot stand out in the first place and it was a massive bummer they disappeared on the last two albums. glad to hear em back

slipknot really are back in their A-game, huh. tbh i never thought i'd see the day where i'd enjoy one of their records as much as S/T or especially Iowa. the amount of absolute desolation and nihilism that Iowa provokes is unmatched, but goddamn this new album plucks those same strings that i've been waiting 10+ years to hear
