mm i feel that way with a lot of 80s music and "neoprog" in particular, so i get where you're coming from
windswept canyon and a few of the other tracks are pretty neat though

I like 80's music in general and neo-prog
I'd say the difference with Jarre's debut is that in that case it is ALL about those kind of synths. There's literally nothing else in the album

i like 80s music in general too, i just think some bands and artists used very annoying synth sounds
van halen comes to mind first

I may get hate for this but I find this album incredibly cheesy and dated, in a bad way. i much prefer 80’s tangerine dream or stuff like e2-e4.
plus jarre is kind of a yuppie dickhead

idk he just comes off as a smug asshole in interviews. plus his first synths were ems synthis and aks which werent exactly cheap and available to struggling musicians back in the day

it does sound kind of dated when compared to the big variety of modern electronic music but this was an essential piece for that to exist though
I still love the cold, spacey atmopshere it gives. And having a vibe like that that also manages to be catchy is pretty cool

bit dated compared to schulze and froese i think is not unfair to suggest
but yea i love kraftwerk around this same period too so i dont mind
