Alex Bent was the right choice as a drummer, he's killer in it.

Yeah they finally have a drummer who fits in. Almost reminds me of Travis in some parts which is a good thing.

Nick was good on In Waves but he fell short on VF

drummers don't fall off from album to album bc everything can be edited. but yeah nick was ass live by the end of that album cycle

I much preferred the lyrics from Shogun. Lyrics about samurai and mythical beasts are badass.

It's much better than the last two, and I still like those a lot. They pretty much amalgamated all their previous albums, but they did a great job. It finishes very strong.

If it was a 4 based on 5 votes I'd understand your skepticism, but it has over 100... if you like anything this band has ever done, I'd recommend giving it a listen. As far as being inconsistent goes, I'm pretty sure they were experimenting with the last 3 albums and just decided to let it fucking rip on this one. Again, the singles are really poor representations of the album. They're still good imo, but are vastly outdone by basically every other song.
