Raised on Biggie Smalls and Nirvana, Halsey clearly wasn't. for anyone that cares, she actually was. her parents played them a lot when she was young. but that really doesn't make it any better.

Have only heard samples, but it sounds like my opinion would be like the reviewer's. There is potential here, but not fulfilled.

This record isn't nearly as bad as I had it heard it was. It's definitely not great, but there are a handful of seriously great songs here ("Colors", "Haunting", "Hold Me Down", "Control", "Ghost".) If she can solve her consistency issues and improve on her cheesy lyrics, I think she could morph into a top-tier pop artist.

she'd also need to improve on the fact that there's absolutely nothing remotely interesting about her or her voice

yea her voice and the lyrics are the worst parts of this, so basically take her out of the equation

it honestly isn't

Her voice is identical to a dozen other indie pop singers. Sure it's "solid" I guess, but she is in no way unique

her fans praise her as something unique.
kinda funny they see that, considering how generic this album can be

i guess it's pretty unique if you're 15 years old and exclusively listen to Twenty One Pilots and Gorillaz like most of Tumblr

Boring, watered down, over produced, bland, bad for your teeth pop. So many people recommended me this album, saying "it's just like PVRIS". Say what you will about PVRIS, but at least they were going for something different and experimental. This is just run of the mill cut and paste pop. It wouldn't be so bad if some of it was at least catchy, but it's not, I was bored after three tracks

They're Monaco and Hamptons bound but we don't feel like outsiders at all.

Production sounds really nice and so does her voice the majority of the time, such a shame that the album is filled with lyrics like that.

Honestly her voice bothers me more than the lyrics. There's something about that style of female hipster vocals that I just can't deal with.
