I fail to understand the 3.2 avg and general distaste for this; it's definitely what was expected following Neck of the Woods and in my opinion is a high 3.5 borderline 4. If I felt like getting all technical I'd go in and edit this to a 3.7 or 3.8.

yeah I agree this should be at a 3.7 avg...not 3.2. this isn't a disappointment compared to some other albums that came out this year

Even disregarding some other major 2015 disappointments, I think people just expected this to be like Swoon in the Woods or something, and when they realized that these guys had a different idea they just lost it.

Eh I think most people preferred their days as more of an alt rock outfit than an indie pop troupe. I dig their sound and their direction but I think a lot of people wanted more abrasive guitar driven tunes than synth and a drum machine.

As an alt rock band these dudes were 2.5/5, singer is a handicap for sure, but now? This direction? Irredeemably shit

i liked neck as much as the first two but i'm still quite afraid to check this. also not really on an indie rock binge

singer is definitely not a handicap haha..Brian's voice actually sets them apart from a lot of the samey sounding vocals seen in a lot of alt rock/indie bands nowadays. and I would highly suggest just giving it a listen or two...it may surprise you

i think this band is quite unique, it's not necessarily the singer's voice (it's very similar to billy corgan's) but their mixture of 00s indie rock sound, grunge and shoegaze fuzz that makes them stand out

I don't hear any similarities between the two

well they don't sound exactly like each other but if you don't hear any similarities then idk if we are listening to the same band because brian obviously took a lot of influence from billy

that's probably because brian's voice is much cleaner but both have the similar kind of high-pitched voice

I thought we established that he doesn't sound like Billy and Silversun don't sound like Smashing Pumpkins after the last album.

This is still poopy...

My favorite band , I love them. Was real excited when I heard they had a new album coming out this year; i was a little disappointed with my first listen.

Not bad though, gonna give it a few more listens before I rate.

I still say Cradle and Connection are better than anything else on here. I think they should've stuck with the Mew-ish sound they had with those songs throughout the record
