i've seen them twice and it's pretty meh. they play super tight but the lack of energy, especially for some of the groovier stuff leaves much to be desired

every band was tight and took very little time setting up so yeah its a good show, nothing crazy tho
and youre only getting half the dan you see in videos like Odyssey/Scala most likely due to his sickness

This is the definition of taking a reused and mediocre formula and sucking it dry for such a boring experience.

Saw them in Denver last night. They completely destroyed it. Like... blown away. Their sound production was crystal clear and the energy resonating between the band and the audience was palpable. There were a couple of songs that were just groovefests but the rest were dynamite.
Dan nailed 99% percent of the vocals.

only 99%?

At the beginning of "Resist" he had a little trouble finding his pitch. It bummed me out because that's my favorite song off Altered State. But the rest was mind blowing. They, along with the Contortionist, were spot on.
Mike Lessard's stage presence is one of the most bizarre and engrossing things I've seen at a concert.

This album is surprisingly good to work out to

Anyone saying Dan nails 99% of the vocals are lying. He struggles hard with Ashe's material alone.

Well I'm not lying because I went to the fucking concert lol. So maybe you've seen him at lesser times but in Denver he crushed it.

This - "slogging through it like a swamp"
Great analogy for how I feel about the vocal on this too

I finally got around listening to this and I have to agree about Ashe's voice fitting better with the overall sound of the band. The first time I heard Nocturne I was blown away, but on listening to the entire album I couldn't tell one song from another (for a while anyway). Overall, TesseracT's sound on Polaris doesn't reach the same level, but the album works better because there's simply more variation and more hooks.

Dan has trouble hitting Ashe's notes and Ashe had trouble hitting Dan's notes. They should stick with the songs they made while they were in the band.
The way they played on "One" Dan fit great but they changed the sound so he doesn't work quite as well anymore.

gotta say, I was really surprised to see a lot of people putting this on their best of the year lists, especially considering the amount of negatives everyone seems to give this.

Seeing them live a few weeks back in Baltimore was godly.
"Mike Lessard's stage presence is one of the most bizarre and engrossing things I've seen at a concert."
This so much. Wasn't sure what to expect from them but they really impressed for sure.
As for this album... seems to have a really transitional feel to it. Like they're slipping back into things perhaps. No particularly amazing vocal work nor instrumental play. No big crazy finishers. Seven Names is neat I will say but it reeeeeally had a "next time guys, wait and see" feel to it. Plus it was certainly no Eden nor Of Energy: Singularity/Embers.
Just undeniably likable even though you wanna try and nitpick your brain/ears still say YUMMY!

Haven't listened to this ever since that first time. It was good, pleasant even, but there are so many better things

damn this is so uninteresting. every riff (if you want to call them that) sounds the same. all vocals sound the same. drums sound the same in every song. not sure how this made the users list.
