Had to revisit this to see if I prefer this to Amo. Decided they’re equal overall quality-wise, but this has a higher peak (ala Drown) and Amo has a much lower low (ala In The Dark). Still going with they’re equal albums to me though.

agreed. he was magnificent on Sempiternal with his keys/programming but in the long run he definitely steered the creative control his way and the band just went along with it. not saying what he comes up with is bad in any facet, but he changed them for sure. At least on this they played their instruments on half the album instead of 2 songs on amo albeit still simplistic on this album.

I definitely like his style a lot it tbh, I should give this another listen, coukd be a 3 actually. amo was pretty enjoyable, too on the first listen. I don't care that much if they play their instruments or not tbh.

Yeah I hate them too and usually I don't really give a fuck what the lyrics are unless they're really good, it's all about what the delivery is like, but these lyrics always fuck me off out of feeling into the album, makes it a horrible song, one of the worse on the record.
