This is my least favorite Maiden honestly, I don't find any replay value in it. A few songs even annoy me. I find it tired and tiresome. The sonic mud doesn't help

I like it but I get what Sab is saying, I feel bloated every time I finish it.

It's too long but there are many quality tracks imo

Tis alright. Hopefully anything new coming is better. More sci-fi Maiden would be cool.

Did this really have to be over an hour and a half?

Potential. One last album about the life cycle ending in a subjugation to AI in order to achieve mortality but be permanently imprisoned with independent thought an impossibility.

I'm kinda' hoping they end on something monstrously epic. Being said, if this is their last album... I'm fully satisfied.

AI armageddon would be an awesome final album topic.

Yeah I don't share the same enthusiasm as you guys.

That being said, "Empire of The Clouds" is the best thing they've made in ages and is a beautiful, well written epic. That alone is enough to make me revisit this, and they've nailed their knack for quieter musical passages and guitar solos, and Bruce still sounds good for his age, but this is ultimately twice as long as it needed to be and mostly devoid of exciting material.

I can see that perspective, but it ultimately narrows down to what you're looking for in a modern Maiden album. I really dig the more drawn out, spacious way they're making music now. It just makes sense for their level of maturity.

It would be silly if they were trying to relive their latter days. But everything leaves something to be desired. I get that.

I get the impression that Empire Of The Clouds may have been intended to be their swansong, though they didn't say this explicitly to keep the option of another album open.

They are no where near finished, as per Steve Harris

A few thoughts:

1) I regret not getting into this a lot sooner, way better than Final Frontier.

2) On the other hand, while Speed of Light is the only truly bad song here, aside from Death or Glory (the superior rocker on this album) and Empire of the Clouds, the second disc is redundant unless you're a huge maiden fan.

3) Personal theory, but I reckon Maiden have two more albums in them. 6+6+6 = 18
