Suburbia still da best [2]
also this is way more consistent than TGG, though maybe besides Cigarettes and Saints it doesn't really reach the same highs

love Jason Butler's feature vocally but lyrically it's corny and forced imo

@yoyo I dig it hard but it feels out of place on Stained Glass Ceilings to me, would have worked better on a faster, shorter song

Completely forgot this was due out this month, so that's a nice surprise

i've pretty much settled on a soft 4.5 for this. A little sad about that, actually. The first time I heard "Brothers &" I thought this was gonna be something insanely beyond my expectations. In parts it was. In other parts it couldn't deliver.

Yeah they really had the chance to expand their sound but they didn't quite take it

Certain songs like Patsy Cline, Hemingway, and You In January do some cool new stuff (super depressing downtempo stuff, awesome choir vocals, and a straight-up love song)
But man why don't people like Patsy Cline that song is a beaut

Yeah it seems to me the last two albums have been increasingly moving away from pop-punk while also containing their most overt pop-punk moments yet, i.e. the frenetic pace of a lot of the songs on TGG and the big whoa's and gang vocals on this one contrasted against say the ending of The Bastards, The Vultures, The Wolves and the beginning of The Devil in My Bloodstream on TGG and the alt/emo of Cigarettes and Saints and more intricate riffs on this one on a good chunk of the songs

I mean, i think the first half of TGG is WAY better than the second until I Just Wanna Sell Out My Funeral

"The first time I heard "Brothers &" I thought this was gonna be something insanely beyond my expectations"
Same here. Don't get me wrong, this is still really good, but Brothers & along with the transition into Cardinals gave me an expectation that the rest of the album swayed away from

TGG defo loses it's way in the second half a bit but it's still their best album for suresies. Also sup Abrodolf

Madelyn I can agree with, it's too out of place. But I Just Wanna Sell Out My Funeral is one of the best closing tracks I've ever heard, it's so perfect. And Raindance in Traffic and Cul-de-sac are top notch

I enjoy Madelyn more than most of the songs here
|
| |
Cul-de-sac and I Just Wanna Sell Out My Funeral are top notch, the rest after Teenage Parents is nowhere near as good as anything from the first half

agreed Funeral is like the best tracks ever written by anyone ever and also the reason life ever existed tbh
