Maybe because I have a Dali's painting on my bedroom's wall and I love surrealistic art?

When this came out, I thought it was a good 20 years ahead of its time. Compared to the modern era, I find it's STILL groundbreaking. There hasn't been an album since even close its caliber.

"This is the only Mars Volta album I can listen to." [2]

I think Frances the Mute is their best and they put out great shit afterward but I think the level of self-indulgence the band reached has remained so off-putting that this is the one album I can always come back to since it feels more straightforward.

Okay this is something... I don't know why I took so long to give this a proper shot, but I do blame it on the fact I saw them live when I was 13 and it was too weird for me and I was ready for System of a Down to play

I was hell, but I do not know who Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, he is your number, all this absurd nonsense group, the goddess of flowers and a solo album in four years is equal to the same issues that I stop to think of structural disorder, and that sampling sound terrible about her music and slapping bass and smashing drums and guitar bloops and Fart like Mars Volta

^ That song's proggy, but still has a verse-chorus song structure and MASSIVE riff, so it still has (arguably no doubt, because what isn't) pop elements.

"y'all ever just... chrome that fetal mirage?"

A couple of days ago... gotta curb that, as it's getting a bit much lately.
